Honorable Mention So many breasts and shoulders Silvia A. Brandon-Perez Another March 8th which will be celebrated by women worldwide and forgotten in the United States, another year I will remember breasts and shoulders of my sisters then and now, the martyrs from the Triangle Shirtwaist fire and the ones who die of curable diseases, unable to reach doctor, hospital, medication, the ones with insufficient sustenance in their shrinking milk supply for babes, who die a thousand deaths from pain, the Juárez girls and the Central Park jogger and Madelaidin, stuck in a wheelchair without the wherewithal for the niceties of life, Luz Dary who works seven days a week cleaning toilets and comes home to bills and an aging mother and a pre-teen son that she must feed, the women in Iraq, Lebanon and Pakistan who may not protest, vote, express their wishes, speak about their plight, and it is now the Beijing plus ten year, where all the delegates will meet to come up with the whys and wherefores and the hows which may not be that easy to bring forth, and I am tired of protest, tired of dumb political supporters of the wrong, the growing tide of violence and of poverty engulfing women everywhere and we too silly to observe, take that close look and realize that every woman's death diminishes each one of us, though Donne used "man" to tell it true, I am too tired today to go preach to my students, or to shovel out the walk so I can drive my aging car, and yet I must persist?
